Healer

The door of the healer’s study creaked open as two battered adventurers stumbled inside, leaving a faint trail of dust and blood on the floor.
The healer looked up from her books, her scepter resting beside the desk. The warm candlelight of the chandelier flickered across the shelves behind her.
“Well,” she said calmly, closing the tome in front of her, “you look like you lost an argument with something large.”
One of them tried to laugh, but it came out more like a groan.
She stood up, tapping the end of her scepter lightly against the floor. A soft glow spread through the room.
“Sit down before you fall down,” she added. “And try not to bleed on the books. Some of those are older than the kingdom.”
As the light of healing magic began to gather around her hands, she smiled slightly.
“Now then… tell me what went wrong this time.”
